THE CHALLENGE
An automation platform to handle multifaceted requirements
For this multinational bank, Oracle’s Human Capital Management (HCM) application is embedded deeply in the organization and used to manage everything from hiring and onboarding to handling personal data and the day-to-day experience of thousands of employees.
The bank’s HCM instances are highly customized, so every release required hundreds of hours of manual testing to ensure end-to-end HR processes weren’t impacted by a change. Employees with a working understanding of these processes would manually go through user acceptance tests before every release. As the complexity of their HCM application set up increased, the bank’s QA team – supported by these business users – simply couldn’t keep up with requirements.
The bank needed an automation platform that could handle Oracle Cloud HCM’s dynamic user interface while making it easier for non-developers to automate and maintain tests.
Selenium, which had been used previously, wasn’t a scalable solution as it required too many technical resources to succeed.
THE SOLUTION
Automating a complex and dynamic user interface
The bank adopted Leapwork to address the challenges of automating Oracle HCM’s complex and dynamic user interface. With Leapwork’s no-code platform, business users and QA teams can collaboratively build and maintain automated regression tests, reducing the dependency on technical expertise and manual processes while expanding automation to other critical applications like IBM’s Business Process Management tool.
THE IMPACT
Bugs caught early before new updates are released
Leapwork has been used to automate over 70% of the customer’s Oracle HCM regression suite, with 90 out of 128 tests covered so far.
Automation has also been expanded to cover other applications managed by different domains, such as IBM’s Business Process Management tool. Business users are still important contributors to the testing process, but the pressure on their time has been greatly reduced. With Leapwork in place, the QA team has saved 150 hours per release.
